i went running
sunday sunday. i went running today. yea. first time since tuesday. next sunday is the shamrock run. i have yet to go more than one continous mile during one of these running outings.
friday was fun. at first it was fun, then it was fun again when we got to Doc's.
im going to study java some. borring. but nothing else sounds a) really fun or b) really satisfying. at least java studying is somewhat satisfying. like snickers.
work takes all my free
i cant sleep. work takes all my free time. im not getting time to think about my ideas. so instead of being able to sleep, my mind races around in a dozen tight little circles of though. jumping from circle to circle.
re-do the idea of a process, virtual memory, and a filesystem all at the same time. ram, local disk, remote disk, are all part of the same object space. each storage location has its own policies. 'packaging' would be eliminated - no moving zip files around and running installers.
bluetooth. recently ive have the bluetooth frying pan put on the back burner. reading some more about it and dreaming some more have rekindled the fire. www.pocit.com has some basic object transfer software. I believe bluetooth is going to need a lot of user interface paradigms created. even with its 1200 page bluetooth spec. I also think BlueTalk or any commercial product will hold up to an Open Source solution.
reading Rebel Code is really really good. Its great to see some real dates and go oh yeah. linux came out in 91. v1.0 was in 93 right around when i was downloading slackware onto 3.5" disks in the engineering lab at Univ of Portland where they had a room full of IPCs and twm was the only window manager anybody used.
I need to come up with a domain for spc. i now have a static hostname for my box. coop.consumption.net. which is nice. yi.org can be flakey.
i go to sleep late i get up late i get in late i leave late. its a vicious cycle.
great quote from andrew tridgall(sp) the author of minix, regarding linux and linus: "anyone designing a monolithic kernel (as compared to a microkernel) in 1991 would not get a good grade in my class."
Net Rock Radio
www.netrockradio.com is the BEST rock station I've found! On the net or on the air. I've been really enjoying it for the past three days.
Its great to see how a radio station can be much better by song choice alone. KUFO has been living off of Van Halen and AC/DC for way way wayyyy too long. Plus this is commerical free. whee!!
apartment hunting
the cute little place by psycho safeway that was such a lucky break would not take rubix and zelda. :(
the duplex by PSU is not returning my calls. suprizingly, what may work out is mcccormick pier apartments. Its spendy ($800/mo) but they have a 6 month lease and they take cats. it would be sure convienent for work. have to check on dsl.
i want a short lease to faciliate my plan to move somewhere south for this winter. maybe san diego area or hawaii.
im late im late im
im late im late im very very late! --the mad hatter
i feel so busy this week and last week. every hour accounted for. the kitties have been so ignored :( and the apartment needs cleaning.
the upper track is barkdust
running journal: YMCA track. 2:15 per 1/4 mile. the upper track is barkdust and varied terain. ill have to try that next. the shamrock run is 4 weekends away. ill do the 8k/5mi run.
I just saw a sign
sweet! I just saw a sign downtown for the shamrock run! that is the only organized run ive participated in and it was great!! I did it last year. 5 miles. Im excited to go again this year. this will give me a reason to run.
im now a member of
whoho! im now a member of carsharing-pdx.com. that is so cool! today im taking out the honda gas/elec hybrid. ive wanted to drive one of those for the longest time! I also have use of a pickup and a minivan.
im on chapter 2 of the java 2 programmer's exam. the book im using is a very good book. Once I hit chapter 13 I take the exam. I went to the library last night to study for a bit.
the webnap hits on klickitat have gone from 80/day to 120/day ever since napter made its laughable attempt at an out of court settlement.
I sold amialooker.com for $20. whoho! I am not going to get another domain, rather ill just get a hostname from one of the many people I know who have their own domain (or multile domains in the case of ryan). The guy may even buy the shitty PHP code that the site is running on now.
taxes are finished. thats a relief. i should be getting big bucks back from the feds. In about a month, for the first time in my adult life, I will have a financial net worth of greater than zero! It will be a funny feeling to have interest work for me instead of it working for the credit card companies. That is, until i buy a house or a car. har har.
I had a nightmare last night. i was awoken by my own scream of fear. it ended with me at a campground waiting for the others to get up when a cave-man type being came up and put me in a bear hug. im not going to write more detail thought. :P
ive been having an enjoyable
its saturday. ive been having an enjoyable day being at home. i had lunch with Malik, my next door neighbor. that was fun. it is very good to have friends nearby. today was absolutely spring-like. i loved it.
i got some reading done in the Bluetooth Revealed book. Interesting stuff. I should be approved for a Palm 4.0 eval license soon. I also got a SmartCard reader in the mail today. whoho. it seemed to work with the visa and the amex blue. its still not very useful and the one testing tool doesnt let you do enough cool things.
the kitties are sacked out and things are quiet in the apartment.
I just got another load
whoho! I just got another load of groceries from homegrocer/webvan. For some reason its just so much fun to have everything you clicked on just magically appear in your kitchen. I got a goot amount of fruits & veggies and the quality is great! Quality in that area is really important.
